We are delighted to announce a new link to local charity Flower Pod

Part of the Reach LD, a registered charity based in Southwell, Flower Pod is a horticultural social enterprise where people with learning difficulties take part in activities which help them gain vital skills for a more independent life in the community. At the 1.5 acre eco site at Brackenhurst, produce is grown and sold as beautiful flower arrangements and confetti for the home, weddings, celebrations, funerals and other events.

With the cricket season starting in earnest, the volunteers at Flower Pod are brightening up the pavilion and score box with a wonderful array of flowers in the front beds, pots and hanging baskets. Center Manager Jane Hufton and Client Services Lead Tracey Thurlow commented:

‘We are really happy to be working with Southwell Cricket Club and engaging in a community project right on our door step! This is the first community project that we have been able to be involved with since the pandemic and our clients are very excited to be involved. They have already started making plans, working out who can do what, researching the plants we will use and what materials we need. This project is such a good fit for Flower Pod Southwell and we are very thankful to members of the cricket club for enabling this to happen.’

As a club always looking to develop links with the local community, we are excited about what this partnership will bring in the future and are delighted to be able to provide additional project opportunities for the Flower Pod clients.

We can’t wait to see what the volunteers and clients at Flower Pod create over the next few weeks – why not come up and have a look for yourself? With the bar open, junior cricket continues on Fridays from 6 and all three weekend teams are looking to see action.

Volunteers and donors are extremely important to Flower Pod – without them they simply could not survive. If you would like to find out about the ways you can support this incredible charity, please click here.
